"As a business owner, it is important to me that we give back to the community..."
Christa Csoka is the head chef and owner of The Artisan's Palate, a restaurant, cocktail and wine bar, and art gallery in NoDa. On one Saturday afternoon each month, she turns The Artisan's Palate dining room into a performance stage to host a Charity Drag Brunch. Christa then takes all ticket proceeds from the event and donates to a nonprofit organization in Mecklenburg County. Carolina Breast Friends has been a beneficiary since the Charity Drag Brunch began in October 2020. Most recently, we received a donation for over $2,700 for a brunch hosted in March an incredible impact for an afternoon of fun entertainment.
"My mother had breast cancer and so for this specific cause, it is personal. As a business owner, it is important to me that we give back to the community and what better community than one that supports women going through such a terrible time. CBF helps to make that easier," says Christa.
In 2021, Christa's drag brunch event raised $25,000 for local charities (CBF being one of them).
In addition to the beneficial work Christa is doing through the monthly Charity Drag Brunch, she is currently organizing a women's event at The Artisan's Palate called B.A.B.E Bash. The event, to be held on Sunday, May 22, will bring together local women entrepreneurs to celebrate and support one another. While attendees are shopping, sipping on cocktails, trying fantastic food, and seeing artists and musicians in action every single dollar spent will go to a woman-owned business. Tickets are $25 and will support local women musicians and artists. Best of all, the proceeds for this event will be donated to CBF.
