Phylicia has volunteered at a fundraising event and in-person events at The Pink House that celebrate Survivors.
"To me, volunteering at CBF feels like I am representing my mother and my grandmother who both are Survivors."
Phylicia moved to Charlotte four years ago around the same time her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time. Atrium Health directed Phylicia and her mother to CBF. Her experience at The Pink House as a co-survivor during her mother's journey moved her to get involved.
Phylicia, who is a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty, began volunteering during the start of the pandemic as a Zumba instructor for Survivors. Her classes were streamed virtually and offered a physical outlet for movement at home. More recently, Phylicia has volunteered at a fundraising event and in-person events at The Pink House that celebrate Survivors.
"My favorite part of volunteering is the conversations I have with the Survivors and meeting them at different stages of their life," says Phylicia. "Volunteering puts me in a position to encourage them to become stronger, healthier and on a path of healing."
