PERSONAL CONNECTIONS THAT INSPIRE

Hanukkah

Peter and Lisa
Peter and Lisa

As the holidays have passed and we move into the new year, Lisa, CBF’s Executive Director, reflects on how she and her partner, Peter, created a meaningful celebration by blending Hanukkah and Christmas traditions, creating a celebration rich in meaning and connection. They lit the menorah together each night of Hanukkah, sharing prayers and savoring traditional treats like latkes and sufganiyot. As Christmas approached, they used decorative candles and lights to reflect the meaning of both holidays and shared special moments with their blended family.

With the first night of Hanukkah falling on Christmas Day, Lisa and Peter prepared family favorites from both traditions for a festive holiday dinner. “By embracing each other’s traditions, we created a unique celebration that honors our shared love for each other and our combined heritage,” Lisa reflected.

This story reminds us of the power of connection and the beauty of honoring diverse experiences.

As we reflect on the close of 2024, we celebrate the events that brought us closer as a community:

Pink Boots Ball: A joyful evening of dancing and resilience, honoring the strength of our Survivor and Thriver community.
